Jelqing is a popular exercise men practice to increase their penile size. If the exercise is done properly, the jelq helps make the penis hard and healthy; however overdoing or doing it wrong can lead to complications.
The following however is a safe and effective routine to jelqing:
1. Warm up
No matter how busy you are, do not skip warming up. This is like foreplay, where the time taken for warming up ensures you get the required results in a quicker period of time.
To warm up, you have to apply heat to your penis for about five minutes by wrapping a warm heating pad around your penis, dipping a washcloth in hot water and applying to the penis or taking a hot shower wherein the hot water falls directly on and warms the penis.
Once you are warmed up, apply lubrication to the penis to provide for effective jelqing. Common lubricant options are baby oil, Vaseline or VigRX oil. With the right lubrication, you will be able to make several jelqs before reapplying the lubricant.
3. The Right Erection Level
After lubricating your penis, you have to get your penile blood flowing. Don’t look for an erection; instead, the penis should be about 50-75% erect after slight stroking of your penis. In other words, the penis should be semi-tumescent or somewhere between semi-soft and semi-hard.
Never try to jelq when the penis is erect.
Create an OK-grip with either hand, using your thumb and pointer finger, as if you were giving someone the ‘OK’ symbol. Then place the grip at your penis base, as close to your pubic bone as possible.
5. Start Jelqing
Next, apply light pressure and gently move your grip up your penis. The pressure applied should be light and not hurt, but should be effective enough to exercise the penile tissues and push blood up the penis.
It is important that you stop jelqing just before reaching the head or glans of the penis, in other words, you should not jelq the head. With this, you complete one jelq, which optimally takes about two to three seconds to perform.
6. Continue Jelqing
On completing one jelq, take your other hand and repeat the process. Make sure you switch hands for each jelq repetition until you reach your required number of reps. It is important that you do not do more than 150 jelq reps per workout for the first few weeks.
7. Safety Is Important
While you should jelq on a regular basis for penile enlargement, you should not jelq every day, especially in the starting period. Like other body muscles, your penis also needs time and rest to recover from a workout. Without sufficient rest, jelqing becomes an unhealthy habit and can get dangerous.
Besides being careful about the frequency of your workouts, there are other tips to remember to ensure your workouts stay healthy like:
- Making it compulsory to follow a warm up routine before jelqing all the time.
- Maintaining a gentle grip and intensity while jelqing.
- Not jelqing when the penis is erect.
- Not jelqing the penis head or glans.
Some men find it difficult jelqing without getting aroused or start ejaculating. This can be overcome with some common beginner-affliction or by squeezing your penis as it helps deter the erection.
Another option is to try dry jelqing:
Dry jelqing is meant for those who find lubricated jelqing rather annoying, or who cannot control their PE session turning into a masturbation session.
It is similar to a regular jelq, except that you do not let your fingers slide over the skin but make sure the skin area your fingers make contact with remains in contact through the entire jelqing movement.
